This has been a very busy and productive week. I managed some shots of the partial Solar Eclipse yesterday morning and was quite
pleased with my results. I hope some of you were equally successful. See this edition of our newsletter to see what Billy Thomas captured in addition to my image. If you managed to get a shot I hope you will share it me and allow me to post your images in the next
newsletter as well.
There are a lot of Photo Workshop activities taking place over the next couple of months, both at the Norfolk Botanical Garden and one all day affair at the Hoffler Creek Wildlife Preserve in Portsmouth, Virginia being offered by Mike Brown and me.
We have begun our November f-64 Challenge. This month’s Challenge is: “Out-of-Bounds” (Or thinking outside of the box.) This is a unique photo editing challenge. How To tips have been provided in the newsletter on page 9.
Heiko DeWees and I attended a hands-on meeting given by Joel Hall on managing our web site. In the course of the evening we learned how to upload images, assemble and enable different elements within Weebly, our web site host. In doing so we prepared the October Challenge images and set everything up for Voting. Voting is now open and will remain open for a period of one week. Take the time right now and cast your ballots in the October Challenge: Topic was “Landscape/Seascape”. This is going to be another close race with so many excellent pictures to choose from. Picking a winner is going to be difficult. You can cast your ballots at:

Our next club meeting will be held at the Administration Building in the Norfolk Botanical Garden on Wednesday, November 20, 2013. Social hour begins at 6 p.m. and the meeting will start at 7 p.m. I will be presenting on “Low Light and “K”Night Photography Techniques”. This hopefully will be a timely presentation with the arrival of the 1,000,000 Bulb display about to take place in the
Norfolk Botanical Garden.
Tomorrow is “Election Day” in the Commonwealth of Virginia, don’t forget to vote!
